![]() Recently I have added Reiki to my skills. I went into Reiki with very little knowledge of its background and theory and soon found out that I was intuititively using Reiki skills without realising. It's origins are Japanese and has a very loving ethos. It's about feeling and tuning into the spirit of a person and being able to help heal spiritual pain. The premise is that our spiritual pain which can be caused by denying the self, can then cause physical breakdown. So, our physical ailments can be due to spiritual pain. We're surrounded by an aura which like anything else, needs looking after. If our aura cracks or loses its energy, there's opportunity for us to let in energy that causes harm. So, for example, if you're working in a job where the energy of the people surrounding you is overall negative (bitchiness, backbiting, jealousy, unfair etc) eventually it will affect us. So if you can picture your body surrounded by a protective shell and that shell keeps out the negativity, any time our shell cracks or breaks, there's opportunity for surrounding energy to enter. Having said that, the same goes for positive energy but that's lovely when we can be surrounded by positivity as it will keep us strong also. The things that can make our aura crack comes from our inner spiritual health. Whatever is going on inside us will either strengthen our aura or weaken it. So, if we aren't honouring who we are, we won't feel peaceful inside. If we have internal conflict between our beliefs and the beliefs of others, that can cause that internal stress. Reiki is able to help with that stress by helping to release it from where the body is holding our stress. Sometimes we need to clean our aura which can be done when we shower and wash off the day, meditation, time outside in nature, smudging, burning incense etc - whatever resonates with you.
